A 50-year legacy, preserved & progressed
The closure of Primarc UV technology
When the industry heard of the closure of Primarc UV Technology, many feared that decades of British manufacturing expertise would be lost. This is when Marc Boden of Benford UV stepped in to ensure that didn’t happen. By acquiring the complete Primarc UV intellectual property, technical archives specialised manufacturing equipment and key personnel to create Benford UV Lamps, we didn’t just save a brand—we preserved a gold standard of engineering.
Tour the factory and meet the people behind Benford UV Lamps
Handmade in the UK
Creating Benford UV Lamps was about more than just acquiring tools and knowledge, it was about people. We are proud to have retained the original technical team from the Slough facility.
Today, our lamps are hand-crafted by the same specialist engineers who built the Primarc reputation. By combining their experience with the original blueprints and specialised tooling, we ensure that every lamp we ship is a 100% technical match to the original OE specification.
The Benford name
A unique relationship
Benford UV Lamps operates as a sister company to Benford UV. This unique relationship creates a powerful feedback loop between the engineers who build the world’s most efficient curing systems and the specialists who manufacture the lamps.
While Benford UV leads the way in Eco-UV and LED-UV system design, Benford Lamps serves the wider global market, providing replacement solutions for all major OEM systems.
Sustaining high standards
We don’t believe in generic replacements. Every lamp is built to a high standard using the original engineering recipe:
-
Original tooling. We use the exact lathes and vacuum chambers designed for the Primarc range.
-
High-purity materials. We utilise clear vitreous silica quartz and precision tungsten electrodes to ensure 90% UV transparency and thermal stability up to 800°C.
-
The technical archive. With access to thousands of legacy designs, we don’t guess, we manufacture to the exact Volt/Amp and spectral requirements of your original system.
Place an order
Ordering replacement UV lamps is easy, simply complete our order enquiry form by providing us with your lamp part number – usually found on your existing lamp – and a photo that shows the complete unit, including end caps. 99% of lamps can be instantly identified this way.
If your lamp markings have worn away or aren’t available, our engineers can still manufacture a 100% technical match, we just need a few key measurements:
Lengths. Overall length, shoulder to shoulder and arc length.
Width. The diameter of the quartz body.
Connections. The length of the electrical leads on each side.
Chemistry. Let us know if you are curing standard inks (Mercury) or thick, pigmented coatings (Iron of Gallium Doped).
